Project Overview

Axions can address the limitations of the Standard Model (SM) by providing a dynamic solution to the strong-CP problem and being an excellent dark matter candidate. They can also explain the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe and improve the hierarchy problem through the cosmological relaxation mechanism. Axions also open up avenues in flavor physics, non-standard cosmology, effective field theory, and astroparticle physics. Academic groups worldwide are investing resources to probe different axion frameworks at the intensity, cosmic, energy, and theory frontiers. These frontiers are intertwined, and new experiments are trying to find statistically significant signals over the SM background. This project proposes new search prospects for axions at the intensity and cosmic frontier, using ongoing and upcoming experiments and state-of-the-art theoretical and computational tools to probe uncharted territories of the axion parameter space.
