About

The patent describes a method for detecting an object using microwave imaging. The method includes receiving a pixelated grid matrix corresponding to an image. The method also includes identifying, at least one pixel under observation (PuO) from the pixelated grid matrix, and one or more neighboring pixel locations corresponding to the at least one PuO. Further, the method includes obtaining time domain responses for the at least one PuO and the corresponding neighboring pixel locations. Thereafter, the method includes passing the time domain responses through a rectangular windowing function and transforming the time domain responses to obtain at least one PuO transformed signal corresponding to the at least one PuO and neighboring transformed signals corresponding to the neighboring pixel locations. At last, the method includes applying a clutter removing model on the at least one PuO transformed signal and the neighboring transformed signals to detect the object. The proposed method relates to a system for time-domain image reconstruction to detect concealed objects, the system includes a plurality of antenna elements configured to transmit and receive a set of radiation signals to and from an object by moving the plurality of antenna elements to different positions in a target area. A processor operatively coupled to the plurality of antenna elements to receive the set of radiation signals of the objects corresponding to distinct stop positions of the plurality of antenna elements and analyse the set of radiation signals to convert the analysed signals into 2D image data, where the 2D image data obtained from each stop position of the plurality of antenna elements are added together to obtain a final reconstructed 2D image of the concealed objects in the target area. The proposed method has the capability to detect different types of metallic and non-metallic threats for security imaging applications.
