About

This project aims to design and analyze existing and novel modulation signaling-based continuous-variable quantum key distribution (MOD-CV-QKD) for optical wireless communication systems. The project addresses several research gaps in the field, such as the use of Gaussian-Quadrature (GQ) methods for determining quantum performance metrics in free-space optical (FSO) communication systems, which has limitations due to its reliance on weight factors and abscissas. Additionally, there is no framework for determining analytical expressions for performance metrics under atmospheric turbulence (AT) and pointing error (PE). The project proposes two objectives: Objective 1 addresses the research gap by focusing on binary phase shift keying-CV-QKD (BPSK-CV-QKD) and quadrature phase shift keying-CV-QKD (QPSK-CV-QKD) systems. Objective 2 focuses on developing and analyzing a spectrally-efficient MOD-CV-QKD system that can share more than one key bit per transmission. The project's next goal is to design and analyze a MOD-CV-QKD system that provides dual protection against Eve attacks, with a doubly protected system proposed using wireless optical channel characteristics. The final objective is to experimentally validate existing and proposed MOD-CV-QKD systems over the FSO channel. In summary, this proposal introduces a comprehensive analytical framework to investigate existing and novel MOD-CV-QKD systems over the FSO channel and their experiment implementations.
