About
Control system is a vast field and widely used area. There are various types of braking systems i.e. mechanical braking, hydraulic braking, pneumatic braking, and electrical braking. Eddy-current braking is a part of electrical braking which is a contactless braking. Nowadays, eddy-current braking is started widely to use in railway, aircrafts, automobiles and heavy industries etc. Energy absorbing system is very important and critical part of Aircraft arrester barrier system. If it fails everything goes off. At present in the existing Aircraft arrester barrier system there is no back-up to the energy absorbing system. The hybrid energy absorbing system which is the combination of eddy current and hydraulic energy can be used. Smart eddy current energy absorbing system may work independently or cooperate with the existing hydraulic energy absorbing system. Where there is no control on the rate of energy absorption (i.e. Aircraft arrester barrier system when the Aircraft is engaged), eddy current brakes can be introduced. we can control the rate of energy absorption by changing the magnitude of flux in electromagnets through the intelligent control (Intelligent-controller) using dynamic pole motion approach. The multi-disc eddy current braking system can be used with the existing braking system or independently to produce the optimum output using intelligent controllers. Intelligent-controller is based on a novel approach of dynamic pole motion. The multi-discs are introduced so that more eddy-currents can be produced for effective barking. The concept of multi-disc is to make the setup of producing more magnetic field so that we can have appropriate braking torque as per the conditions and needs. In emergency conditions, multi-disc eddy current braking system is more reliable. In this research project, intelligent controllers are proposed to control the parameters of AI based smart eddy current energy absorbing system to control applied voltage, speed of the disc, braking torque etc. The project will therefore contribute a methodology to the practical solution of eddy current energy absorbing system for railways, automobiles, heavy industries and aircraft etc.
