Project Overview

The project aims to explore the relationship between quantum information and classical cryptography, focusing on developing quantum data broadcasting protocols that offer robust quantum-provable security. It acknowledges the potential impact of quantum computers on classical cryptographic protocols and proposes using quantum cryptography as an alternative in designing quantum computing attack-resistant protocols. The project uses recent research on certifiable randomness expansion and quantum supremacy to enhance security and efficiency by embedding local quantum computing operations in cryptographic systems over classical communication channels. The fundamental cryptographic primitive of interest is broadcast encryption (BE), which enables efficient and secure encryption of messages for groups of receivers. Existing classical BE schemes are vulnerable to quantum-computing attacks due to Shor's quantum algorithm. The project also aims to develop quantum-provable secure variants of BE protocols, such as Quantum Anonymous BE, Quantum BE with Dealership, Quantum Traitor Tracing, Quantum BE with Personalized Messages, and Quantum Recipient Revocable BE. The main goals include an exhaustive review of existing classical and post-quantum BE protocols, examining their efficiency and security trade-offs, and designing provable quantum-computing-attack-secure Q-BE schemes over classical communication channels. The project draws inspiration from previous works on interactive quantum encryption and certified deletion techniques and plans to adopt these techniques to develop the proposed quantum BE protocols.
