About
The proposed project aims to study the impact of the massive accretion disk on the dynamics of E/IMRI systems and the emitted gravitational wave profile of binary inspirals. The project focuses on constraining black hole parameters and estimating the mass and spin of the compact super massive black hole (SMBH) due to the modification of coalescing time caused by the hydrodynamic drag of the accretion disk. The study will study E/IMRI systems where a companion stellar-mass black hole orbits a central SMBH, moving through the accretion disk. The emitted gravitational wave signals, which carry the imprint of the companion's trajectory, contain signatures of the hydrodynamic features of the accretion disk. The effect of time lags will be visible as a total phase shift in the detected GW wave form by LISA. The GW observation is expected to measure SMBH masses with high accuracy, which is crucial for measuring and constraining various black hole parameters. The study also aims to test alternative theories of gravity over Einstein's gravity or the existence of exotic compact objects. The increasing possibility of gravitational wave detection due to the establishment of the worldwide network of gravitational wave detectors (LIGO) and the proposed launch of a space-based GW detector (LISA) has attracted scientists' attention to the influence of the accretion disk.
