Project Overview

The study focuses on creating textured superhydrophobic surfaces due to their unique wetting characteristics and potential technological applications. These surfaces have properties such as self-cleaning, anti-corrosion, anti-icing, and anti-icing for photovoltaic cells, airplanes, and power lines. They also demonstrate reduced fluid flow drag and are crucial for understanding fluid dynamics and transport processes. The study analyzes the flow of a Bingham fluid in a channel with a wavy superhydrophobic wall using a semi-analytical model and complementary DNSs. The flow motion equations are modified to include infinitesimal wall-induced perturbations using Fourier series expansion, and the resulting perturbation stream function equation is solved as a boundary value problem. The two primary techniques for studying quantitative viscoplastic fluid flows are regularisation and augmented Lagrangian approaches. The study assumes a wavy liquid/air contact at the SH walls, with a single wavy unyielded zone near the centerline of the channel. The complexity of the flow through a wavy SH lower wall is addressed carefully while solving the equations governing the flow.
