Project Overview

The study aims to investigate the ?-phase of semi-crystalline PVDF polymer, which undergoes a thermally stimulated solid-solid transition from the ferroelectric phase to the paraelectric phase at higher temperatures. To shift this transition to ambient conditions, TrFE defects can be introduced to PVDF, weakening the dipole-dipole interactions of VDF sequences. The systematic study of P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer with varying TrFE content will provide the exact concentration range for room temperature crystallization of mixtures of ordered ferroelectric crystalline domains, exhibiting good piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. The study promises a precise study of paraelectric and ferroelectric phases in semi-crystalline polymers, with higher stability in characteristics parameters. It will provide insight into the impact of relaxation dynamics and molecular mobility on piezoelectric devices and the ergodicity of linear dielectric response. The study of polymorphism and thermally stimulated solid-solid transitions in polymer blends will be crucial for industrial applications.
