About
The development of new antimalarials, particularly for malaria, remains a significant challenge in the medical world. Hybrid antimalarials, which have dual modes of action, have emerged as a promising solution. The researchers plan to fuse two pharmacophores, imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine and flavone, based on their lower toxicity, good solubility, and better pharmacokinetics. The scientific objectives of this proposal are to create a hybrid molecule with dual modes of action, providing a new path for medicinal and synthetic chemists. The proposed molecule will be synthesized, studied in vitro for antiplasmodial activity with various malarial strains, and their therapeutic index, including in vitro cytotoxicity and hemolytic activity. The study will also investigate the mechanism of action of the active molecules. The research has significant implications for the field of research, including the synthesis of a new hybrid antimalarial agent, the development of a protocol for synthesis, and lead molecule identification.
