Project Overview

The carbon-hydrogen bond is ubiquitous in organic compounds and constitutes one of the most basic structural units in the natural world. Consequently, the transformation of a C-H bond into another chemical bond has great significance in synthetic chemistry. Owing to the inert nature of the C-H bond, it is generally more practical to convert the C-H bond into a more reactive chemical bond (such as a carbon-halogen bond), which is then subjected to further transformations. From the perspective of either synthetic efficiency or atom economy, it would clearly be more ideal to pursue the direct transformation of the C-H bond without the need for additional intermediate steps . The development of meta-selective C-H functionalization remains a significant challenge. Thus, my research goal is to overcome this challenge and create new pathways for carrying out new organic synthesis techniques to meet the demand of chemical and pharmaceutical industries. From the perspective of either synthetic efficiency or atom economy, it would clearly be more ideal to pursue the direct transformation of the C-H bond without the need for additional intermediate steps.
