Project Overview

As per the WHO Coronavirus (COVID-19) Dashboard [5:49 pm CEsT, 14 september 2022], more than 0.6 billion people are infected and about 6.5 million people died globally due to sARs-CoV-2 novel virus. There are plenty of vaccines and drugs are available now but due to change in the genetic material of sARs-CoV-2 novel virus, more and more vaccines, drugs and information is required. Most of the drugs are organic compounds. By keeping in mind, the importance of biologically important metal ions, this project will describe the innovative and new approach for the synthesis of metallodrugs (transition metal complexes) with o-aminophenolate kind of organic ligands as these ligands show promising pharmacological properties. For the structural and spectroscopic investigations of metallodrugs (transition metal complexes), X-ray single crystal structure, spectroscopic techniques like CHN, FTIR, NMR, Mass, Electrochemistry, UV-Vis, EPR, Mӧssbauer etc. will be used. To confirm and understand the anti-COVID-19 behaviour of transition metal complexes, molecular docking, biological activity, and pharmacophore studies will be done.
