About
The 5G-MIMO antenna is designed to meet the growing demand for high data rates, bandwidth, accuracy, immunity to multi-path fading, and low latency in the growing world of data dependency. The antenna is composed of two major bands: sub-6GHz band/Frequency Range-1 (FR-1) and millimeter-Wave (mm-Wave)/Frequency Range-2. FR-1 bands are more suitable for wide coverage areas and low data rates, while mm-Wave/FR-2 bands are suitable for densely populated areas with high speed and end-user data encroachment. The goal is to achieve circular polarization in two-port and multiple ports, as well as spatial diversity and beamforming to make it a multi-user MIMO antenna. The Buttler Matrix concept is used to redistribute power and feed the antenna array with different phases of current to achieve multiple beams, which can be further used for targeting specific users in crowded or traffic-heavy environments. Designing the antenna involves using low-loss tangent substrates like Rogers 3210, RT/Duriod 5880/5870, and RT/Duriod 4350 of different thicknesses. Once the design is finalized, the antenna will be fabricated using an automatic PCB Prototype Machine and soldered with a high-frequency sMA connector for connecting with a co-axial cable using the Vectored Network Analyzer (VNA). The project aims to make real-time use of the designed 5G-MIMO/Array antenna for handheld devices or Wi-Fi adapters, organize workshops on designing and fabrication of various patch antennas, implement various UG and PG projects, strengthen quality Ph.D. with software, measurement setups, substrates, connectors, and other required consumables, and publish several research publications.
