About

The Gurez Valley in Kashmir, particularly the Gurez and Tulail valleys, is a region with limited agricultural resources and a resource-poor tribal population. Agriculture and livestock are the mainstays of the economy, but the region's poor nutrient management challenges can be overcome by investigating and leveraging native microbial resources. The development of elite bio formulation technology is seen as the only economically viable and long-term alternative for increasing agricultural output. The use of microbe-based fertilizer and pesticides can encourage sustainable organic agriculture, ensuring good crop yields without residue and maintaining soil and environmental health. self-Help Groups of educated and illiterate youngsters can earn livelihoods by marketing organic produce to the rest of the country. The project aims to encourage farmers and self-Help Groups to practice "organic" production to protect the vulnerable environment in which they operate. The current project aims to design an effective microbial formulation of cold-tolerant microorganisms to address inadequate nutrient usage efficiency and disease management in the region's primary crops. The hypothesis is that local cold-tolerant effective microbial formulations may improve nutrient utilization and disease management efficiency in temperate conditions, leading to regional entrepreneurial development. The creation of environmentally friendly microbial technologies can boost soil nutrition and fertility, agricultural yields, and preserve the study area's unique ecological condition.
