About
The study of wave interaction problems in marine engineering has gained significant interest due to their potential applications in underwater pipe bridges, wave power devices, large floating structures, and mobile offshore bases. Traditionally, marine researchers assume that oceans are either infinite depth or finite depth with a flat and rigid bed. However, the flexibility of the bed has not been considered in previous investigations. This has led to an extension of wave-structure interaction problems on an elastic bottom, considering the elastic-bottom surface composed of materials with elastic properties. some researchers have studied water wave problems using the bottom as a flexible elastic bed or membrane, finding that wave characteristics in the fluid are significantly affected by an elastic structure. This proposed project aims to study the scattering and trapping of surface waves by suitable structures in a sea with uneven bottom topography within the framework of linearized water waves theory. The project will use techniques such as Green's function, Wiener-Hopf, eigenfunction expansions, Fourier transform, Multipole expansions, and algebraic methods like Least square and singular value decomposition.
