About
This project aims to explore the novel progress in the field of high entropy oxides (HEOs), a new class of multi-component oxides with distinct and highly-tunable chemistries. since the discovery of HEOs materials in 2015, this new class of high-entropy function oxides has been studied by various research groups. The field of material science is evolving, and understanding functional electronic and magnetic properties in oxides requires controlling and tuning the underlying crystal lattice. By utilizing configurational entropy as the driving force for engineering oxide systems, this divergence from traditional methods opens a new avenue to investigate HEOs structures and subsequent properties. The project aims to synthesize rocksalt and ABO3 type pervoskite (HEOs) in bulk and thin film structures, focusing on their structural stability, electrical transport properties, functional features, and magnetic effect with doping. The main objective is to synthesize the new composition of HEOs materials using conventional solid state methods, such as ball milling and nebulized spray pyrolysis for bulk and nono structure. Pulsed laser deposition equipped with RHEED will be used to create thin films on single crystal substrates of srTiO3 and other perovskite structure substrates. Ex-situ structural characterization of fabricated samples will be done using X-ray diffractometers. Temperature-dependent electrical and magnetic properties will be investigated using PPMs and MPMs systems available at central institutes in India. Chemical compositional and other characteristics will be studied using XPs, XAs, and other advanced techniques.
