About

Encouraging policies of Govt. of India such as “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” “Make in India” and “Startup India” helps to create the desired environment to nurture the technological advancements in our country. Cognitive radio (CR) based affordable ‘Antenna-FSS’ composite structure to access the 5G new radio and super wideband (SWB)/ ultra-wideband (UWB) spectrums concurrently is targeted as it will be beneficial for many futuristic wireless technologies such as enhanced mobile broadband communication (AR-VR, automated transportation etc.), IoT/ massive IoT sectors (smart city, smart agriculture, industry automation etc.), mission critical services (defence sector, emergency rescue, remote healthcare, UAV communication etc.). The proposed work is summarized as, (A) Antenna development to work in the 5G NR, beyond 5G and wideband spectrums concurrently to realize underlay hierarchical based CR solution. A new approach of designing the different radiators in different substrate element, i.e. a hybrid substrate-based antenna as a whole will be considered to make the whole design affordable. To resonate at 5G/beyond 5G NR bands, specially n257-n262, the antenna radiator will be designed on low lossy costly substrate such as Rogers whereas the sub 6GHz 5G band and commercial UWB will be realized by fabricating the radiating elements on affordable FR4 substrate. (B) Multiple FSSs development to work in 5G NR (specially in n257-n262 and beyond 5G) and wideband spectrums for different purposes like antenna radiation improvement in the broadside direction, reducing mutual coupling between the similar structures to enhance isolation and offering high EM shielding. (C) New application specific approaches of antenna and FSS integration and placement will be considered to minimize the space requirement with better isolation, EM shielding and antenna gain augmentation. (D) Fabrication of the designed antennas and FSSs to realize the hardware configurations for industry grade experimental measurement to validate the performance of hardware prototypes (antennas, FSS and combined structure). (E) Report generation with proper technical and feedback summary regarding the effectiveness of proposed antenna-FSS solution that will be helpful for academic institutions and industry, working on futuristic wireless communication devices. (F) Skilled manpower development for future start-up initiation to accomplish the goal of “Startup India,” “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
