About

According to the international diabetes federation, worldwide around 463 million adults are suffering from diabetes and by 2045, and it is expected to reach upto 700 million. There are 34% lifetime risk that a diabetic patient will develop a Diabetic Foot Uncler (DFU). Often DFU infection leads to sever pain, infections, lower limb amputation, significant morbidity and thus increase the pressure on the health system resources. Scientific Objectives : Addition of technologies opened a new spectrum of research in the application advance techniques for improving the quality of life and expectancy for diabetic patents. These application areas include analysis of DFU complications and current care paradigm, Rehabilitation etc. The aim of this study is to detect foot uncler in the initial stage of its occurrence and thus the limb amputations and other complications can be avoided with the timely care of the patients. Hypothesis : Peripheral neuropathy and circulatory problems are major cause of Diabetic Foot Uncler. Based on the hypothesis of “the skin heats up before it breaks down”, areas of the foot with raised skin temperatures may be an indication of pre-ulcerative inflammation in people with diabetes. Plantar pressure and infrared thermographic imaging can assist the doctors in assessment of the insensate limb of the patients. Outcome : Design a computational model to help in the monitoring of diabetic foot, primeval identification of diabetic foot, and/or to prevent the presence of a diabetic foot ulcer. Design and Development of Graphical User Interface (GUI) for identifying the risk of Diabetic Foot Ulcers at early stage based on the Plantar pressure and infrared thermographic imaging. This could prevent the amputation and limb loss and thus increase the life quality.
