About
The prime objective of the proposed project work is to explore the structural firmness and electronic properties of various allotropes of monolayer group-III materials in the form of nanosheets, nanoribbons and nanotubes. The most significant monolayer group-III materials namely borophane, aluminene, borophene, indiene, etc., are going to be used as a promising base material for the detection of dissimilar toxic gas/vapor molecules. Interestingly, doping and substitution of impurities, functionalization and passivation of hydrogen, chlorine and fluorine at the termination end of nanosheet, nanoribbon and nanotubes of group-III monolayers leads to fine-tune the electronic properties. Besides, the electronic properties of group-III monolayers are tailored by aforementioned technique and the prominent adsorption site of gas/vapor molecules is going to be identified. The different nanostructures of group-III monolayers can also be used as a two-probe device for the possible design and development of novel chemical nanosensors. The findings of the proposed project work will give deep insights on the adsorption behavior of toxic gas/molecules on group-III monolayers to the research community engaged in the design of chemical sensors.
