Project Overview

Nowadays, cellulose-based materials have been recognized as a lead performer for water remediation, and energy production. Cellulose is considered a based material owing to biocompatibility and renewable properties. In this context, the cellulosic material could be nanocrystal, nanowhiskers, and nanofiber, which expresses the chemical attractiveness owing to the spreading of the chemical handle in form of hydroxyl groups in their backbone. The cellulose backbone is prominently considered as a supporting surface for the immobilization of photocatalyst for extending photocatalytic performance leading to the reduction of the agglomeration of photocatalyst and leaching of the metal oxide. This photocatalysis approach has been vastly emerged to evict the non-desirable content from contaminated water. In the past few years, the photocatalysis approach is being performed with the introduction of photocatalysts in cellulose-based material for enhancing their performance efficiently. The innovative cellulose-based composites are prominent for energy production to be used in the dye-sensitized solar cell. Biopolymer composites are converted in polymer electrolytes film through depositing of electrolytes. The deposition of electrolytes in biopolymer composite gel was found to be a promising tactic to improve material properties in form of conductive behavior. The prepared polymer electrolyte film involves the attractiveness of making dye-sensitized solar cells due to their attractive feathers such as low cost, environmentally friendly, good light-to-electricity conversion efficiency, marked stability, and ease of fabrication, thus interesting this remarkable prospectus for implementation in the next generation of the quasi solid DSSC.
