About

The proposed project aims to provide a high-speed communication network during disasters, enabling immediate restoration of communication systems at any geographical area. Establishing communication during disasters is a tedious task, and traditional methods like phone and mobile may not work or be lost during such events. Optical wireless communication (OWC) is a promising alternative to fiber optic and wireless radio-frequency links, offering high bandwidth and a protocol-transparent physical layer connection. India, with its growing digital needs and the development of smart cities, requires high-speed data transfer systems for various applications. This project will describe a deployment scenario, including system definition, architecture, typical customer installation, and inter-working with other networks. The outdoor system will use hybrid FSO/RF data transmission/reception from different servers located at various locations. UAVs/Vehicles can be equipped with OWC transceivers for communication with the central data center/base station. Hybrid OWC/RF links are provided for high reliability during unseen atmospheric conditions. The data interface for the system includes universal serial bus (USB), LAN RJ45, optical interface fiber, small form-factor pluggable (SFP), camera, and sensor data interface for Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. The project aims to provide a reliable and efficient communication solution for disaster response and recovery.
