About
Infectious diseases, particularly COVID-19, have caused significant human mortality and pose unprecedented challenges to the food system, public health, and various aspects of life. Despite the development of effective vaccines, mutations in SARS-Cov-2 variants have also been a significant factor in the disease's prevalence, transmission, mortality, and eradication. Researchers have been tasked with understanding the impact of mutations on the prevalence, transmission, mortality, and eradication of the disease. To address these questions, a project proposal proposes a dynamical model of multi-strains and analyzes its transmission dynamics in the presence of mutation and imperfect vaccination. This study will examine the impact of imperfect vaccination on disease dynamics and apply the proposed model to COVID-19 data in India and neighboring countries. Using significant mathematical and numerical evaluations, the study will investigate under what conditions the vaccine will play a significant role in eliminating mutant and native strains. The model will also be parameterized with India's data for a particular period using appropriate statistical methods. The project aims to understand the pattern of estimated cumulative cases and deaths depending on vaccine efficacies and its relevance to India and other countries. The outcomes of this project proposal are highly relevant to India and other countries.
