Project Overview

The porous carbon materials (PCM) as one of the most common materials have been widely explored as electrode materials in electrochemical energy storage devices due to its unique characteristics like large specific surface area, tuneable pore size, high electrical conductivity, strong mechanical property, low cost, and eco-friendly. The development of different PCM has quantified from their various morphology such as carbon spheres, 2D carbon nanotubes and fibres, carbon sheets, and carbon framework etc, among these the 2D PCM with highly porous structure, robust mechanical stability, can not only provide efficient pathway for fast electron and ions transportation. In order to improve the efficiency, it is required to made effective strategy to avoid the chemical swelling/leakage problem for reduce the current at interface and material stability for long life cyclic of device. In the present proposal it is focused to use waste biomass/biomaterial can be converted into bio-based carbon materials, it may possible to replace fossil sources with sustainable, environmentally friendly, such as agricultural and other residues to produce PCM. There is an enormous knowledge gap in the intersection between biomass conversion technologies and the practical application fields so far because of the lack of understanding and attention. It is necessary to develop conversion processes (in both laboratory and industrial scales) that lead to tailor-made bio-based PCM for energy storage applications like battery, and supercapacitor.
