About
Microbubbles have gained significant attention in biomedical and biological fields, particularly in diagnostic ultrasound imaging and targeted drug delivery. Advancements in bubble encapsulation have led to the development of nano-particle-loaded encapsulation, which can be loaded with various types of nanoparticle-based drugs for magnetic and ultrasound imaging. Understanding the behavior of magnetic nanoparticles-based EBs under acoustic and magnetic excitations is crucial for biomedical applications. However, there are challenges in designing and developing magnetic encapsulated bubbles (MEBs). The presence of nanoparticles in EBs changes the elastic and magnetic properties of the bubble, altering the elastic modulus and volume fraction. The magnetostrictive property also affects the elastic response of the bubble under acoustic excitation. Understanding the influence of the magnetic field on spherical and non-spherical oscillation is essential for designing bubbles for targeted drug delivery and safe operating parameters. Recent literature has attempted to understand the mechanical behavior of gas bubbles suspended in a magnetorheological fluid, but a detailed theoretical and numerical understanding of MEBs is lacking. This proposal aims to address these critical aspects, providing a preliminary understanding for handling advanced problems related to MEBs, analyzing bubbles under in vitro and in vivo conditions, and identifying different excitation parametric ranges. The objectives will be implemented in COMSOL to handle more complicated problems in the future.
