About

The aim of the project is to sustainable step economic diversification of arenes using transient directing groups as mediator for the distal C-H functionalization. As we our group is focused on distal C-H functionalization for the mid-stage or late-stage functionalization of bioactive molecules. Different transient directing groups will be synthesized such as imines, ion-pair interaction, frustrated lewis pair interaction, anion-pi interaction will be tested for the distal C-H activations and different important functional groups such as cyano, aryl, alkyl, olefins, acetoxy will be installed in the arene rings or aliphatic long chains (gamma, delta) positions. Various arenes would be distally functionalized with important functional groups without the attachment of any permanent directing groups which often requires very harsh reaction condition for the installation or removal and also the attachment of TDGs are step and atom economic and easily removable weak interactions are involved.
