About

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is diagnosed predominantly by clinical features and antibody positivity for rheumatoid factor (RF) and/or anticitrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCPs). In contrast, psoriasis arthritis (PsA) is diagnosed exclusively through clinical and imaging features. The majority of RA patients have RF and/or anti-CCP antibodies. However, RF and anti-CCP are low in roughly 10%–15% of instances, and because the symptoms of RA and PsA are sometimes quite similar, distinguishing between seronegative RA (negRA) and PsA can be challenging. Although the therapy choices for the two diseases are so dissimilar, early diagnosis and treatment selection is critical for maintaining remission or limiting joint damage. As a result, new inventions for accurate diagnosis are required. Metabolomics is a new approach to biomarker study that involves measuring many small-molecule metabolites in biological fluids (serum, plasma, urine & saliva), tissues, and cells. This research investigates useful diagnostic urinary metabolic biomarkers for differentiating between negRA and PsA. Here, we'll use GC-MS and multivariate data analysis to check urinary metabolite profiles and see whether these biomarker panels could be used to make an accurate diagnosis.
