About
The proposed work aims to address smart mobility in urban and remote areas in India, utilizing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to implement in-vehicle, Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I), and pedestrian-to-infrastructure communication systems. These systems are used in blind urban intersections, vehicular positioning, and smart car parking. For defense applications, V2I and P2I can support military, border surveillance, and life-saving technology in disaster-prone lands. To realize the complete ecosystem of smart mobility, a large number of sensor nodes are deployed for detection and monitoring, which require frequent battery replacement. Wireless charging using microwave power transmission from the same AP antenna can enhance the sensor node's lifetime, allowing simultaneous wireless information and power transmission (SWIPT) to vehicles, pedestrians, and sensor nodes within the coverage area. The main objective of this proposal is to build innovative antenna solutions for smart mobility, targeting concerns such as maximizing quality coverage, efficient SWIPT, drone-based portable AP, and RF energy harvesting. A novel quality-aware antenna synthesis process for switched multi-beam AP antenna will be developed using projected power distributions to maximize coverage area for SWIPT. Miniaturized, planar, lightweight antennas with switched multi-beam characteristics will be designed for vehicular infrastructure and drone-based AP systems to facilitate SWIPT. The project will train manpower, technologically contribute, and seek commercialization opportunities globally in the fields of smart city, smart transportation, smart mobility, smart military, and defense applications.
