About

Polyolefins are widely used polymeric materials due to their exceptional physiochemical properties. However, they lack polar functionalities, making it difficult to blend them with other polymers. To enhance their properties, functional groups are introduced through efficient chemical reactions. This study proposes functionalizing polyolefins using magnetically separable and recyclable first row transition-metal catalysts. The process involves using commercially available iron and cobalt metal salts with a phosphamide-containing ligand. The phosphamide group in the ligand scaffold makes the catalytic system robust and potentially recyclable. Additionally, the presence of paramagnetic iron species allows the catalyst to be separated from the reaction system and reused.
