About
The advancement of spintronic and quantum technology necessitates new material discovery and novel device ideas. Topological quantum materials, such as Weyl semimetal, have emerged as promising materials with robust electronic properties. In 2015, researchers worldwide are exploring the potential for electronics applications of Weyl semimetal in the form of devices. These devices can play a significant role in energy harvesting green technologies, faster mobile and data communication beyond 5G, high-sensitive detectors for space exploration, and quantum computing. Magnetic Weyl semimetals hold great potential for low-dissipation electronic, spintronics, and thermoelectric devices. This project focuses on recently discovered magnetic Weyl semimetals such as Mn3X, Co3Sn2S2, and Fe3Sn2. The project aims to optimize the electrical transport properties of magnetic Weyl semimetal thin films using growth conditions, strain, and doping. Additionally, the project will explore the chiral anomaly effect, which generates a current of chiral Weyl fermions inside the Weyl semimetal when a parallel electric and magnetic field is applied. The experiments will provide a deeper understanding of Weyl fermions and motivate the pursuit of high-speed and low-power electronic devices with novel functionalities.
