Groundwater is an important resource for the agrarian economies, with the commercialization of agriculture, its depletion is a danger to society. The diversification in agriculture which involves less dependency on groundwater can play a dual role in the economy i.e sustainable income with minimum degradation of the groundwater. The present study will look into various aspects through various socio-economic including environment and health through statistical and environment analysis. The present study’s concern is to examine the relationship between various irrigation techniques and reasons for groundwater depletion in Central Punjab. The present study is to find out the measurement of water productivity and efficiency of farms producing various crops to get the answer to the question: What would be the possibility of diversification in the Punjab agriculture through the sustainable and efficient use of groundwater?
