About
Physics-based mathematical models for lithium-ion battery comprise coupled partial differential equations accounting for the conservation of species, energy and charge. This mathematical complexity leads to higher computational requirements which makes these models unsuitable to be implemented onboard an application. We shall intervene this limitation of the physics-based models with the help of mathematical tools (non-dimensionalization, scaling analysis, asymptotics, volume-averaging, and leading-order solutions) and secure a reduced model formulation that captures the internal cell dynamics yet computationally efficient to be implemented onboard. In comparison to the state of art literature on the subject, this project aims to develop an advanced reduced order model that can capture the thermal effects, cell dynamics in the rest period and the continued charging-discharging (both partial and incomplete).
