About
Cancer is a significant disorder causing morbidity and mortality, with over a million new diagnoses and 8-10 million deaths annually. Oral cancer is the 6th most popular cancer, with nearly three million cases and over seven lakh new cases detected annually. Casz1 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in tumor suppression by regulating gene expression. The tumor suppressive ability of Casz1 is expected to function by repressing the transcription of oncogenes, inactivating transcription factors for cell cycle progression, and inducing apoptosis genes. This potential tumor suppressing role of Casz1 will be explored in oral cancer scenarios for the first time. Casz1 also plays a main role in maintaining the function and inhibition of tumors in neuroblastoma and maintaining the stability and differentiation of Th17 cells. This project aims to evaluate how Casz1 induces cancer killing mechanisms using in vitro and invivo models, oral cancer tissue samples, and stable cancer cells. If Casz1 expression is downregulated in oral cancer tissues and cell lines, it will significantly correlate with aggressive clinicopathological characteristics and poor prognosis of Oral squamous cell carcinoma patients. These research studies will define Casz1 as a tumor suppressor in oral cancer, potentially serving as a novel prognostic biomarker.
