About
There is an ongoing increasing demand for energy-efficient and high-capacity optical data communication. However, the energy-efficiency and high-capacity optical communication systems are limited due to unmatured coherent detection systems. The current state-of-the-art coherent detection systems suffer from dispersive pulse-broadening; and issues in receiver phase, and IQ imbalance. This project aims to invent and demonstrate a novel FPGA-based coherent detection system to address these challenges. This system would track the errors in the receiver subsystem and adaptively correct them. This project will prove a major milestone to reduce energy consumption and scale data rates in optical communication systems.
