Project Overview
The GoldAid is a wearable safety device designed for plant workers, aiming to provide the fastest medical aid in the Golden Hour. This innovative technology will enable the detection of accidents during risky assignments and raise alarms immediately to a central location, ensuring timely medical help is provided. The project falls under the qualifiers criteria 4 Innovative Product Development and partially falls under 6 Any other Technology for Product design and Development for Import Substitution, as it will result in a low-cost Make-in-India product supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The GoldAid will measure four primary vitals of the human body: Heart rate HR, Blood-oxygen saturation SpO2, Blood pressure BP, and temperature, which show radical differences in the event of an accident. It will also detect events of fall that might occur to people working on tall 40 m chimneys. Additionally, it will detect exposures to dangerous locations using GPS and mapping them with the factory map. The project will also integrate all sensors on a custom-designed PCB, develop a computation matrix to identify potential risks based on sensor data, and optimize an algorithm for measuring BP from PPG. The wireless communication will be done using ISM band near 400 MHz and LoRaWAN technology, with an ISM band transmitter and receivers developed using commercially available integrated circuits. An SOS button will be added on the proposed device, and a buzzer/vibration motor will be included to alert workers about any notifications. The prototype will be developed, tested in lab and validated in industries, with necessary modifications made based on feedback. The device will be ready for commercialization after being completed and tested in field trials. The GoldAid is an ergonomically designed battery-operated safety device for plant workers, providing a reliable and energy-efficient signal integration and computation platform. It will provide correct assessment of plant worker's health and avoid false alarms, ensure quick identification of worker's location in case of any safety alert, and provide simultaneous monitoring of large numbers of workers during big maintenance activities in plants.
