Project Overview

The present proposal proposes design and development of an in-situ inside gasifier reactor tar reduction system using suitable catalyst for different type of biomass, and application of enhanced produced gas in the Internal combustion engine to generate power with dual fuel Producer gas Diesel operation to measure the diesel saving. Further, as feedstock is a concern, India is rich a country for having a variety of biomass and thus agro-waste availability. Concerning this aspect, the present project proposes a novel integration of technology in the downdraft gasification system to improve gasification performance with low tar content producer gas. In the proposed system, the loss of high thermal energy will be restricted through wall of gasifier and catalytic based tar removal process will be integrated to enhance the heating value of producer gas. Gasifier product as Producer gas is a composition of H2, CO, CO2, CH4, and N2, which has a potential for many applications like direst heating, cooking, and dual-mode fuel for an internal combustion engine. Thus, this proposal could be employed to upgrade gasification technology to conserve petroleum through the associated work of tar removing integration in gasification techniques in downdraft gasifiers and utilization of agro-waste as feedstock. This proposal deals with measurement of tar content, heating value of syn gas, performance analysis of internal combustion engine, and petroleum fuel saving. The off-grid power generation system must promote to meet the rapid augmentation of power demand and for sustainability. Downdraft gasifier with engine coupling is one of the viable technology for small scale power generation. The gasification of high ash coal HAC and subsequently utilization of waste gasified ash is one of the challenging task. Thus, the second objective of the present proposal is to illustrate the producer gas generation from HAC and utilization in dual fuel mode diesel engine, gasifier-engine performance analysis under different operating conditions, and valorization of gasified ash into concrete making
