Project Overview

The project aims to construct a 10 ton per batch TPB biodrying-BMT plant in India, designed to handle mixed municipal solid waste (MSW) effectively. The goal is to develop and demonstrate a clean sustainable technology for the treatment of MSW and resource recovery of high-calorie RDF refuse-derived fuel, oil, biosolids, manure, etc., as envisaged in the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, Government of India. The project includes designing a model Biodrying-BMT pilot plant that can handle about 10 TPB mixed MSW per day and mechanically separate the dried waste at 2 tonnes per hour TPH. The Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of the BMT plant includes process flow diagram PFD, piping instrumentation diagram PID, reactor design, sizing and specifications of the equipment, Plant layout, etc. The project also includes designing a comprehensive waste management scheme with all aspects from collection, transportation, treatment, utilization of products to final disposal of residues. The biodrying process reduces waste moisture content from 55 to 20-10 wet weight, increasing the calorific value of waste by approximately 30 to 40. Key stakeholders include MoEF, CPCB, Ministry of Housing and Urban Authorities, municipalities, urban local bodies (ULBs), and policy decision-makers. The project will follow full-scale plant design and cost estimation, generating design and engineering data for a 400 TPD technology. Turnkey engineering companies will be involved as intermediaries, undertaking projects for municipalities and others.
