Test is easy to perform and take about 15-20 minutes and is very sensitive with a minimum detection limit of 0.01% (100ppm). A portion of the test oil is shaken with a specific clean up cum-extraction reagent and two layers are allowed to separate and a drop from lower layer is applied on a filter paper strip and viewed under fluorescent detection device developed at ITRC. Orange to purplish fluorescent spot appearance indicates the presence of argemone oil.
