Project Overview
Generating variability through hybridization between winter and spring wheats, sharing seeds of segregating materials with cooperating centres for evaluation under diverse agroecological conditions, and selecting desirable recombinants from segregating generations leading to development of new genotypes for commercial cultivation particularly suitable for early sowing during end of October.
Achievements
A total of 265 crosses involving spring and winter wheats were produced; usefulness of winter wheats in spring wheat improvement; develop new genotypes giving higher grain yield to the tune of 7-8 t/ha; enhanced the chances of desired segregants in the breeding populations.
