Project Overview

Nanostructured metallic nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalyst has attracted increasing attention in recent years in bio-imaging, sensing, drug delivery, antimicrobial coating and as catalysts in various chemical transformations. However, aggregation of NPs, separation and recycling of metal NPs is still a challenging task for researchers. Thus, to improve stability, separation ability and recyclability need to be addressed which can be attained by embedding metal NPs onto proper supports like polymers, metal oxides (siO2, TiO2, ZrO2, and Al2O3), metal organic frameworks, and carbon nanotubes. In literature very few reports are available in which supported NPs based heterogeneous catalysts are applied successfully for the organic reactions. The focus in this project will be to design of Cu NPs immobilized on proper support system to develop a functional catalytic system for C-H activation/C-C bond formation reactions.
