Project Overview
We have proposed to synthesize a varieties of Ferrocene – BODIPY – Carborane triads systems in which our aim is to attach ortho, meta and para carboranes at the meso-position of BODIPY-Ferrocene systems. These unexplored donor–acceptor triads are envisaged to show absorption at varying wavelengths, which would be electrically tunable for applications in sensors and display devices. The newly synthesized compounds are expected to show enhanced elecrochromic and fluorescence properties due the presence of carboranes at meso position of BODIPY-Ferrocene systems. Their optical properties will be thoroughly assessed and their geometry optimization would be carried out using Gaussian 16 software. The electrochemical properties will also be evaluated. The observed photophysical and electrochromic properties will be correlated with the computational data. This proposal is expected to deliver a new class of Ferrocene – BODIPY – Carborane triads systems for spectroelectrochromic applications which have never been evaluated.
