About

The project is mainly focused for analysis in two separate but connected domains namely digital payments and telecommunication networks for identification of pain points discussed by the citizens on Twitter. We will use large amount of unstructured data (tweets) at least 2,00,000 for each sector by using desired keywords and hashtags . These tweets would contain discussions happening across Twitter of the impact of user experiences associated with technological and government policy changes. With this huge amount of available user generated content (tweets) containingdiscussion about various aspects of governance in the digital payments and telecommunications sector we can get an insight about the sentiment, polarity and emotion. This information can be used for modeling topics and highlighting the critical pain points of the people and how the policies have impacted the masses. Further, solutions to the identified problem areas may be suggested based on available literature and best practices across other economies. The project thus proves to be beneficial in identifying user pain points from their opinion related to the changes and would help in increasing citizen engagement depending on the impact analysis. In the current scenario, with the government’s digital India and cashless payments initiative, there has been an exponential growth in the use of digital payments and the underlying necessity of telecommunications network for the increased internet use for the same. Both private ( PayTM, Mobikiwik, PayuMoney ) and public sector organizations (BHIM, USSD payments), banks (SBI Buddy, ICICI Pockets) and telecom industry have come up with ways and means to help aid the initiative. People have major concerns surrounding these recent changes as with the current policy surrounding demonetization and lack of hard cash, they have to use digital payments not by choice but by compulsion in some cases, as covered in news channels and reports regularly. There have been huge discussions surrounding the concerns of the masses in social media in the last few months. The discussions are in the form of highly unstructured user generated content and thus there is no way the concerns are be acknowledged and addressed to. This makes it critically essential for us in analyzing this unstructured micro blog text which may give us useful insights to identify the main user pain points surrounding digital payments and telecommunications.
