Project Overview
The project aims to examine the current status of the available stability indices in nowcasting thunderstorms and tries to improved the prediction skill by combining more than one convective index if skill of individual index is poor. If the modified index is not improved as expected, it is proposed to develop an advanced Convective Index that has the capability of accurately predicting thunderstorm activity by considering all the influential factors over the tropical sub-continent by employing data from radiosonde or wind profiler radar and microwave radiometer. Based on the real-time observations of the atmosphere, the investigators intend to investigate the convective instability of the atmosphere.
