Project Overview

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disorder characterized by elevated intracranial pressure, causing headache, double vision, and visual loss. The exact pathophysiology of IIH is unclear, and there is no literature on the association between blood-brain barrier disruption and heat shock proteins. The study aims to evaluate CD146 in blood and CsF of patients with IIH, heat shock proteins (HsP60, 70, 90) in blood and CsF, correlate their levels with disease severity, and assess melatonin and cortisol levels in patients with and without sleep problems. 40 patients will be screened for inclusion, and heat shock proteins and CD146 levels will be measured through RTPCR and ELIsA tests. The study aims to provide further insight into the etiopathogenesis of IIH by understanding the role of blood-brain barrier markers and heat shock proteins in disease prognosis, aiding in further management.
