CO2 Capture via Microbial Route

Implementing Organization

Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR)

Project Overview

CO2 capture via microbial route process by CSIR-CIMFR will lead to environment-friendly alternatives to chemically CO2 capture process. CO2 capture using algae is an eco-friendly, rapid process for thermal power plant and natural gas processing industry. The CO2 capture via microbial route is having multiple modes of application with modified algal growth media derived from coal mine water. Further the novel bioreactor designed and used in the process is having in-built organic fibrous matrix for support of the filamentous algae growth, rapid proliferation and easy recovery.

Benefits

CSIR CIMFR Developed process on CO2 capture through micro algae offers a cost effective option towards reducing our carbon footprint and a key tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from natural gas and thermal power industries.
