Economical Process for the Production of Novel Thermostable Bio-surfactants with Different Applications

Implementing Organization

National Chemical Laboratory (NCL)

Project Overview

CSIR-NCL has developed an economical process for the production of novel thermostable bio-surfactants [mixture of 1-Pentanonacontene (C95H190) and 3-Hydroxy-16-methylheptadecanoic acid (C18H36O3]. Marine bacteria have used for production. Biosurfactants displayed excellent emulsification oil displacement activity. It demonstrated excellent results as the spreader of pesticides formulations. It is available in solution dry powder form. The Current process is validated at 14L scale. It is available for licensing/co-development.
