Aluminium-based alloys such as 2219, and 2014 are candidate structural materials for ISRO's program. The project aims to understand the effect of proton-irradiation on their microstructure and mechanical response.The study focuses on investigating the depth dependent hardness evolution as well as understanding the deformation and damage mechanisms.Further,role of irradiation-induced microstructural changes on the mechanical properties on those materials was established.
