This type of battery is completely sealed and spill proof and hence can be used in any position. Frequent topping up of the electrolyte required in the case of flooded electrolyte battery is also avoided. Small capacity M.F. batteries are very widely used in flash cameras, transistors, tape recorders, emergency lights etc. The technology for making MF batteries has been developed in CECRI, Karaikudi and batteries of capacity upto 12V/100 Ah have been assembled and tested successfully.
