Acting upon a request from ODAM, RuTAG has designed and fabricated a 100 kg prototype of a charcoal kiln for efficient production of charcoal from the abundantely available fuel wood tree Prosopis juliflora (seemai karuvelum in Tamil).
Salient features of Charcoal Kiln:
Insulated steel drum.
Ability to control airflow in the inlet and outlet.
Use volatiles from wood in heating.
Fater turnaround time (1 to 2 days).
Complete elimination of water consumption.
