About

Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) is one of the traditional essential oil bearing plant belonging to the family poaceae. The oil is obtained from certain species of grasses of the genus Cymbopogon. The genus consists of about 80 species, 10 to 12 of which are known to occur in India. The value of Lemongrass oil depends entirely upon its citral content. Lemongrass is a plant of the humid tropics. It grows best in warm moist climate. An annual rainfall of 250 cm is ideal for its cultivation.

Outcome / Output

Lemongrass oil is used in wide range of skin care and cosmetic products, such as soaps, deodorants, shampoos, lotions, and tonics. It also works as an air freshener and deodorizer, especially when blended with other essential oils. Lemongrass oil is also known for its ability to repel insects, such as mosquitoes and ants, due to its high citral and geraniol content
