Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) with Remineralization

Implementing Organization

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers
Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT)

About

The device takes advantage of relative humidity (25%) and temperature (20degreeC) to produce drinking water for remote villages, coastal regions, border areas. Developed a novel remineralisation technology using an automated system for dosing a proprietary salt mixture. Post treatment by novel indigenous high flux polyether sulfone based ultrafiltration membrane and ozonation / UV light produces clarified and disinfected water. Cost per Liter of potable water is Rs 3.5/- which may reduce to Rs 1.5/- using solar power. Design of Solar powered AWG unit reduces cost per liter production of potable water.

Outcome / Output

Remineralized water is used for remote villages, coastal regions, border areas, The permeate water from atmospheric water generator is remineralized to 60 to 120 ppm TDS.
