Project Overview
The Present proposal envisages the detailed studies on evolving a novel strategy to develop solid state sodium ion conducting glass electrolyte exhibiting better ionic conductivity (10- 2 S/cm) at room temperature towards advanced low cost sodium sulfur battery chemistry development. This said method utilises direct solid-vapor growth of solid electrolyte over the sodium metal anode surface thereby meeting the required interfacial and electrochemical compatibility for Na-S chemistry. Major objectives of the proposal are development of interfacial properties tuned solid electrolyte chemistry and fabrication, demonstration of Protomodel Na-S cells with improved performance characteristics aiming for space and societal applications
